Cedar Park at the north end of Lake City, was named due to the plats that subdivided the land along the lake which had previously belonged to the Puget Mill Company. Many of the lots that overlook the lake were occupied by vacation cottages, from the 1920s to the Second World War, but after 1945, the neighborhood developed into a single- family residential community, with homes here today dating from the 1950s to ’70s. Waterfront homes here are separated from the other homes by the 27-mile Burke-Gilman Trail, popular for jogging, walking and biking. The Matthews Beach neighborhood lies at the southern end of Lake City and features some particularly magnificent homes as well as easy access to a large freshwater bathing beach.
